Background

Many European Directives related to safety and health at work require an assessment of risks. Risk assessment is considered to be a good practice to be taken to protect workers' safety and health. The prevention process starts with the reduction and if possible, total elimination of potential risks.  It is generally acknowledged that the psychosocial work environment plays a considerable role for the occurrence of a number of risks as for diseases, for stress and burnout, general quality of life, for social exclusion, harassment and bullying, for sickness absence and personnel turnover. A risk assessment on psychosocial work environment is therefore of a considerable importance.
